Welcome to the
UHP BIPOC Collective
at the George Washington University
Who are we?
The UHP BIPOC Collective is a student-run group created by and for students that identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of color in the GW University Honors Program, including domestic and international students.
We are a non-hierarchical organization of students of color seeking to empower and support each other and hold the UHP accountable through providing programming, opportunities, and collective power to raise issues of concern with UHP administration, faculty, and staff.
The UHP BIPOC Collective is not affiliated with UHP administration.
BIPOC students have been underserved and under-represented in the Honors Program. We know from personal experience how difficult and painful navigating these spaces can be. The BIPOC Collective seeks to rectify this by working within a collective & community care framework to create a platform for BIPOC students and highlight opportunities, mentorship, resources, events, & more.
What do we do?
This collective seeks to provide networks of support for BIPOC students and avenues for communication with administration, staff, and faculty. We hope to do this by:
→ Facilitating communication and contact among
BIPOC students through a private GroupMe
→ Hosting biweekly events on the 2nd and 4th Thursday
of each month
→ Gathering and publicizing experiences of BIPOC
students in the Honors program
→ Publicizing diverse content
→ Providing routes of advocacy and change within the
Honors program
→ Among others!
